Lately, I’ve been feeling nostalgic and homesick. Last December I took the decision to leave my place in Czech Republic and move to the United Kingdom. Therefore, I didn’t go back home to Cyprus for Christmas to pack everything and prepare for my departure from Brno, the city I was living at for 3 years. But then, when I moved to London, in less than three months COVID-19 decided to intervene with my plans and life (like with everyone else). So, for the first time I’ve been away from home, my family and friends for more than a year. Last time I was home was in August 2019.
Naturally, I started feeling very nostalgic. I miss my family, my friends, my home, the delicious food from Cyprus, the sun, the sea, and in general, I miss Cyprus. It’s quite funny to be honest, because usually I always try to avoid Cyprus. Certainly, I love my country but at the same time I prefer the life abroad for many reasons. But after being away for more than a year it made me appreciate Cyprus more. After all, as they say, you need to lose something to start appreciate it.
Many will say home is where the heart is, but I can’t deny the fact home is indeed the place we have our happiest memories, which for me is certainly Cyprus.
Thanks for reading! I hope you are all safe and happy:)
Miss you too 💛❤
